Consider talk therapy, when a therapist guides you through your thoughts and emotions from the safety of a comfortable environment. Somatic Experiencing is similar but instead of focusing on more external elements such as experiences, memories, and stories, the client is guided into how those elements manifest in the body. As sensations arise we work together to follow the needs of the nervous system. Sometimes this means we are assigning emotions a color or inviting in a visual associated with a memory. We may play with moving the body around the room, bringing tools into the experience like movement, sounds, exploration of boundary building, light touch, unexpressed emotion and much more. This practice is not linear, and is lead by the clients' nervous system, therefore each session is different.
Somatic Experiencing invites the client to increase their capacity in a wholistic manner, this means that no part of you is left behind. As we explore what may be held in the body you can also learn to understand the subtle and profound messages your body tells you in each moment, allowing you to make decisions with ease and show up fully resourced in your life.
I am currently taking clients at the discounted rate of $80/hour.
